Helen Houlden has been decorating cakes for over 30 years. She studied the City & Guilds '121' at Grimsby Technical College and the '790' at South Notts College of Further Education.

Helen has won Bronze and Gold medals for her fruit cake from the British Sugarcraft Guild, which she has been a member of for 30 years. She has in the past appeared on TV's Granada Breeze with some of her cakes and appeared in wedding and sugarcraft magazines and the local paper. She was delighted to have been asked to make the wedding cakes for Nottingham Professional Golfer Lee Westwood and Forest footballer Ian Woan back in the day!

Before Helen opened her own shop ' The Sugarcraft Studio' in Radcliffe-on-Trent, she used to teach Non-vocational Cake Decorating for South Notts College in West Bridgford until the funding was taken away from colleges. After that she ran her own classes in every Sugarcraft subject including chocolate work and demonstrated sugarcraft techniques to many different groups around the County. Although she no longer has her shop she still runs small and individual classes and demonstrates the art of Sugarcraft to groups large and small. Please contact her if you would like to learn this artform.
